Teaching Methodology

Pre-Primary School

Kindergarten is the first experience of the child in a structured setting with teachers and groups of children. The Pre-Primary teaching broadly uses the Play based method where we believe that each child is different and learns at one’s own pace. Our Interactive teaching-learning program for this Toddler section ensures that all children develop physically, socially, emotionally, morally and intellectually to their full potential. Hands-on activities, Field Trips, Nature Walks, Picnics, Role play, Group activities, Celebrations of Festivals, Interactive Projects, and Science based fun activities form a regular and integral part of learning by doing. This way children learn to live in harmony with their environment, make observations, enquire and ask questions – what, how & why. Each class has a trained faculty and a full-time helper who make sure that the conversation between children and with children is done using a polite language and soft tone.
Primary School

Primary School would cover a period of five years during which the basic skills that children acquire in Pre-primary years would be enhanced. The Primary School curriculum progresses from skills to experiential learning to building knowledge. While the emphasis is on understanding of mathematical and science concepts, sports and co-curricular activities enrich the values of teamwork and cooperation among children and help to spot out the hidden talent at very young age. Primary classes give equal opportunity to the creative side of the children when they are exposed fullest to various forms of art like drawing, painting, creative writing, singing, dancing, acting, etc.
Middle and Secondary School

In the Middle and Senior School years, the students would pursue a common comprehensive academically oriented curriculum which prepares them for the Secondary level where they also learn to accept personal responsibility for their actions, decisions and outcomes. Our qualified and dedicated faculty ensures to provide a stimulating and conducive classroom experience where the students gain a deep understanding of important concepts, develop research and experimental skills and strengthen the knowledge, skills and competencies. Learning beyond the classroom through excursions, debates, extempore, recitation talks, group discussions, exhibitions, etc. reinforce the concepts. Creativity and talent are nurtured through sports, dance, music, art, craft, etc.
A career guidance program is also included in the curriculum at this stage.
Senior Secondary School

At the Senior Secondary level, the curriculum shifts its emphasis from general to core subject where SSMS offers all the three streams – Science, Commerce and Arts.

The curriculum emphasizes on conceptual understanding, application of knowledge, use of technology, logical and analytical thinking, reasoning abilities, problem-solving skills, and interdisciplinary learning, etc. The well-equipped science laboratories, technology-enabled classrooms, and a well-stocked library at SSMS help the students achieve their objectives because this section of schooling prepares students for higher educational pursuits. With Sequential flow of knowledge - from fundamentals to higher level knowledge, our senior faculty builds a strong foundation that helps students excel in competitive exams.
Assessment Pattern

Academic Assessment is an important part of teaching and learning process. Hence, the Assessment pattern is based on HBSE guidelines.
Pre-Primary School

For Toddlers i.e. Classes Nursery, LKG and UKG, the academic year is divided into two terms. There are no formal examinations for these classes. However, evaluation of the child’s progress is done on the basis of day to day performance which is carried out in various ways including written assessments via worksheets and written work done in the notebooks in school and at home, oral assessments via classroom discussions and interactions, and activity assessments that are judged primarily through Thursday activities, Project activities, Learning centre activities, creative work etc.
Primary School

For Classes I to V, the academic year is divided into two terms. Academic performance of the students is evaluated through formal assessments conducted four times in an academic session, twice during each term.
Middle School

  • Scholastic Activities
  • The assessment plan for classes VI-VIII has been designed on Term basis with gradual increase in the learning content. This would prepare the students to cover the whole syllabus of the academic year and face the challenge of class X Board examination, and would thus, ensure the ‘quality of education’.

  • Co-Scholastic Activities (Classes VI-VIII)
  • For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas are carried out.

  • Work Education – Work Education refers to skill-based activities resulting in goods or services useful to the society.
